A Korean company is talking bold action regarding controversy over the Tokyo Olympics map through historical grounds
The Tokyo Olympics, which are only a few days away, are creating controversy.
The Tokyo Organizing Committee of the Olympic in Japan is creating controversy by marking Dokdo, which is in dispute between Korea and Japan, on a Japanese map and revealing the national team uniform with the Rising Sun flag.
At the time of the Pyeongchang Olympics, South Korea released the Korean Peninsula flag with Dokdo included, but when Japan became furious and sent a letter of protest, it became a diplomatic issue.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) requested that South Korea erase Dokdo several times through a letter with the reason that it was in violation of Article 50 of the Olympic Charter, which prohibits political, religious, and racial propaganda. South Korea accepted the IOC’s recommendation and removed Dokdo from the Korean Peninsula flag.
However, the IOC is not taking action against Japan’s behavior, causing criticism from many people.
Recently, a Korean company has been taking bold action on the controversy over the labeling of Dokdo in the Tokyo Olympics.Fashion brand Lakai Korea is currently conducting an international lawsuit against Japanese netizens for distorting history. This company is becoming known more globally every day.
On their official SNS, Lakai Korea recently revealed T-shirts that they are going to deliver to Korean Olympic athletes at the Tokyo Olympics to inform people about the history distorted by Japan.
On the front of the T-shirt is a Taegeukgi design which symbolizes Korea and on the back is a QR code that goes to the homepage of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Dokdo.
This page contains historical evidence indicating that Dokdo is Korean territory in 10 languages. The phrase ‘DOKDO BELONGS TO KOREA‘ is placed next to the QR code to inform people that Dokdo is Korean territory. Lakai Korea said they are infuriated by Japan’s diplomatic, political, and historical attitude that crossed the line and was looking for a way to help.
At the time of its initial launch, Lakai Korea released shoes to sponsor the Dokdo Association of Korea with the English phrase ‘DOKDO BELONGS TO KOREA‘. During the Pyeongchang Olympics, they made a sticker with Dokdo on the Korean flag and sent products in Korea and throughout the world with the sticker attached.
Lakai Korea said that, even at their own cost, they would go themselves to Japan to deliver this meaningful T-shirts directly to the players. They expressed their ambition to inform the world that Dokdo is a Korean territory through the Olympics.
